NEWS UPDATE - FOCUS ON FACILITATION
Submitted by pat on Tue, 02/09/2008 - 4:45pm.
Wonderful news - read all about it!
This year the 11th Asian Conference for the International Association of Facilitators (www.iaf-world.org) was held in Kuching from the 27-28th August at the Damai Puri Resort- a lovely location reminiscent of a natural paradise. From Sunday 24th to Tuesday 26th, 18 candidates were assessed for the coveted Certified Professional Facilitator qualification - a benchmark recognition for working facilitators. I was one of them - and happily - I was certified on Tuesday 26th, one of the 6 candidates who cleared the assessment that day. It is difficult to describe the sense of affirmation and joy that I experienced on receiving the news after the final interview.
This certification will mean a change in focus for HarmonyWorks - the focus of developmental work which began with training and attitudinal shifts in 2003 will now move to the using methods that involve facilitation and drawing the wisdom from the group. Much has to be done to review the current programme offerings, as well as, in the design of new ones that will employ facilitation as an approach to individual and group awareness and development.
The understanding and premise of the facilitative style will need to be clarified for those who may be new to it. The long term benefits and gains from using facilitation will need to be reviewed and shared.
Keep watching this space for more on facilitation.
